With China being a neighbor to the north and many Chinese having settled in Laos,
some of them in the second or third generation, it’s not surprising that Chinese food is very popular
here. Consequently, Vientiane has a quite large number of Chinese restaurants.
They are spread all over the town, however, a bigger concentration of Chinese restaurants can be
found around the “Talat Laeng” also known as “Talat Chin” – the Chinese Market.
The range is from small, simple places to big and elegant restaurants.
Often, also the bigger hotels have a Chinese restaurant. In terms of the food on offer,
the variety of the specialties from all the different regions of China is impressive.
When it comes to prices, China restaurants are generally rather on the expensive side,
especially in the bigger places and when ordering specialties such as Peking Duck and the like.
