Forget everything you heard about “sleepy Vientiane”. There are many, many more place to dance the night away, have a drink or two with old and new friends or just hang out to listen to your favorite music.

Vientiane has no “nightlife zones” and the various places are a little bit spread out throughout the entire town. Only exception to this rule is Luangpabang Road, where you find quite a lot of nightspots within a range of approximately 1 km, starting from the Novotel towards the airport, all of them on the right hand side in the outbound direction.

Despite the official midnight curfew, some places can miraculously stay open longer, some of them even to the early morning hours of 4 or 5 o’clock. Such longer opening hours are, however, not always applied and seem to depend on the mood of some Lao gods…
